Know Wire provides on-demand
information access for two-way pagers.
Know Wire is a service provider to 2-way paging devices.
The intent is to provide unprecedented access to information for
the low-end 2-way wireless device. The reason behind the focus
on the low-end is to create a single solution that works across
the complete spectrum of wireless 2-way devices. At the same time
we are creating a foundation capable of dealing with any new technology
that may come down the road in the future.
Know Wire provides access to;
E-mail access is through the POP3 protocol. This is the most popular
protocol to allow dial-up connections to access E-mail boxes.
Because the protocol is independent of the mail client, (Netscape,
Endora, MS exchange…), users of any E-mail system supporting
POP3 can use the Know Wire access. This access includes:
list, list unread, read, search, forward, delete.
Know Wire's Internet access takes 3 forms. This first method
is user controllable clipping of web pages. This allows the user
to select which parts of a web site they want sent to their pager.
The second method is clipped forms. This allows the user to access
information requiring "filling out a form." The pager
can send the variable parts of the request and receive the clipped
part of the result. The last method is browsing. Know Wire's
browsing agent allows the 2-way device to look at the text
portions of ANY web page. Then follow links, read and fill out
and submit forms, all from the 2-way device.
Two simple functions finish out the list, Memos and Alarms. Memos
work like electronic post-it notes. Allowing page sized documents
to be listed, read, written, edited and deleted. Alarms allow
any function to be set up to execute based on date and or time.
This provides alarm and push functionality controlled by the user.
Know Wire uses a unique standards based solution relying
on MPbase and the "KISS" principle. No part of the Know
Wire solution requires special software on the 2-way device
or modification of the web page to be accessed. This is the only
solution that provides access to the full Internet today, not
just some pages, some time in the future.
The Know Wire technology is based on MPbase and its ability
to interface directly with the many low level standards used in
today's interactive world. Some examples of current Internet standards
we use are, SNMP (Simple Network Mail Protocol), SNPP (Simple
Network Paging Protocol), POP3 (Post Office Protocol vs. 3), HTTP
(Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol), HTML (Hyper-Text Markup Language).

Know Wire's philosophy is to maximize the use of the currently
popular standard protocols. The MPbase architecture allows quick
addition of other standards as needed. This ability allows Know
Wire to use a build it as needed approach. The incorporation
of new protocol standards can be done in a matter of hours.
Know Wire offers this same technology in an "appliance" version. With consulting, this provides a turn key solution to 2-way wireless digital access to legacy and other corporate data. The Know Wire appliance allows the simple creation of a 2-way wireless corporate "Portal" to connect the user to any desired electronic corporate data (E-data). The appliance also allows detailed access control, logging and statistics when desired. In addition Know Wire offers complete remote operation and diagnostics to allow instant start up in your environment.
In the future Know Wire will provide access to other Open Sky Technologies services like web question & answer services that will enable intuitive web access.
